Gripping, Intense, Hilarious

This book will hook you in immediately so take a deep breath. I was amazed, disgusted, horrified, and giddy at the incredibly real dialog and the story; told from the viewpoint of one very troubled adolescent. I finished it yesterday and goddammit, I’m still having freaky-feeling thoughts and afterimages about it. I think it’s a wonderful book. It hit me harder than anything I’ve read lately and I just finished reading The Goldfinch (Donna Tartt) and Black Chalk (Christopher J. Yates) and they were very dark and tense. I loved this book and will encourage you to read it, but be forewarned: though it's funny as hell and I laughed out loud, it was so dark and tense that I was relieved when I finished it. You will not foresee what happens to Johnny and E. Nobody will. There's so much in there, I intend to read it again when my nerves have settled.
